You've been asking for a program that offers the opportunity for a weekly, bi-weekly or even monthly check-in. So here it is! This 15 min. session will be personally tailored to your needs and can consist of any of the following:
  • Weekly check-in and review in my Potomac Falls, VA studio
  • Accountability for accomplishing the established weekly goals/goal setting
  • Weigh-in (and periodic measuring; girth and/or body fat)
  • Food record review and coaching
  • Menu/meal planning
  • Exercise/activity coaching and planning
  • Strategizing around upcoming challenges
  • Coaching , support, encouragement, motivation

Millie's Annual Holiday Open House

What success have you had with your goals prior to working with Personal Best?
I was a Weight Watchers member prior to working with Personal Best and had success with the program. I unfortunately fell into old habits and thinking and gained the weight back. I knew if I was going to lose the weight again, I needed support and activities outside of Weight Watchers to ensure the weight stayed off.
 What made you try Personal Best?
I tried Personal Best because I wanted to start strength training, in addition to cardio activities, to strengthen and build my muscles. The fact that I could do this in a group setting was a plus. The group setting and the advice/guidance from Millie was the added support I needed when I returned to the Weight Watchers program to begin losing the weight again.
How has it worked for you?
So far, I’ve seen results and have been able to maintain my weight (after the loss). The variety of strength training activities we do each session keeps my muscles and me challenged. I enjoy the friendships and the support I’ve received since joining Personal Best. Each session I learn something about myself, my body, food, exercise, etc., which helps keep me on track. 
 How has it helped you reach your goals?
The Personal Best training sessions help keep me focused on my goals of maintaining my weight and getting stronger. It’s a dedicated time each week where I focus on my health, my body and me. With my busy schedule, I have to have a planned time to workout or it won’t happen.
 What difficulties did you previously encounter in trying to meet your health, fitness, and weight goals?
In the past there have been a number of derailers to achieving my weight loss/health/fitness goals. One would be the saboteurs (friends and family who have a knack for convincing me that I look fine and I don’t need to make any changes). The second is procrastination (putting off changing eating habits and beginning an exercise regimen until “next week”). The third would be a lack of commitment to staying on track and allowing my weight to slowly creep back up – not being accountable for what I was eating and how active I was. The last would be a lack of awareness about what type of program/workout regimen was going to work for me based on my motivation, my personal needs, my schedule, etc.
 What inspired you?
I was inspired because I knew I could feel better than I did. I was determined to make a permanent change this time and frankly, my head was just in the right place to take on the challenge. I was tired of feeling sluggish, lacking energy, and I wanted to feel comfortable in my clothes again.
 What helped you the most?
There isn’t any one thing that helped me. It was a combination of things. Being in the right mindset allowed me to seek out help (i.e. Personal Best and Weight Watchers). Once I was committed to these two programs, the rest became easy, because I had support and coaching from Millie and my classmates, as well as the staff at Weight Watchers. I had tools to hold me accountable for my eating and I had scheduled days/times for my strength training, which I treated like any other appointment – I had to be there. Knowing there are 3-4 people waiting for you for class helps with accountability also.
 What life changes did you make that allowed you to meet your goals?
I changed my eating habits and became more thoughtful about my food selections and intake. I incorporated activity or movement into my daily/weekly routine (yes, even on vacations).
What advice would you give someone with similar goals?
Take it one day at a time. Break your goals down into smaller attainable actions/changes. View your changes as a lifestyle change instead of something you’re doing for now. Utilize your network around you for support and know that it’s something you have to work on every day for the rest of your life, if you want the results.
What other benefits have you experienced in this process? I’ve benefited from this program in the following ways:
a.      I have more energy and stamina.
b.      I’ve lost weight and kept it off.
c.       I’ve learned a lot about food, supplements, etc. and their impact on the body.
d.      I’ve learned to manage stress better.
e.       I’ve made wonderful friendships with my classmates.
f.        I’m overall living a healthier, happier life.
